Tech Staff

Group 91 Advanced Capabilities & Technologies

The Advanced Capabilities and Technologies Group is part of the Space Systems & Technology Division that researches and develops technology for space control, space-domain awareness, earth observation, and space science. The Group s primary focus is on conceiving high-risk, high-reward technologies and conducting first-of-a-kind demonstrations of those technologies. Demonstrations range from small-scale laboratory tests, to major ground systems, to satellite systems. New projects are regularly initiated. Some recent examples of projects include:
1) lab experiments validating an innovative concept for imaging satellites using long-baseline interferometry, 2) development and fielding of a 3.5-m ground-based telescope for space-domain awareness, which used a novel curved CCD focal plane developed by another Lincoln Laboratory Group, 3) design of an advanced, compact space-based lidar to go on an ESPA-class satellite

Hands-on experience with experimental hardware, as well as data-acquisition and processing systems.
